Farid Ahmed and the local Liberal Democrats with the Walthamstow British Legion organised a special award ceremony for local veterans. Eight veterans badges were awarded to local residents by Lieutenant Colonel Mike Caseman-Jones, on behalf of HM Armed forces.

Liberal Democrat Leader Nick Clegg will today [Monday] set out the importance of early years education in tacking inequality in a speech to the Salvation Army. Committing the Liberal Democrats to invest an extra £2.5bn in schools, Nick Clegg will say that parents and schools must work together to make sure that children get the best possible start in life.

Nick Clegg has sent a letter to Gordon Brown urging him to go before the Iraq enquiry before the General Election. Earlier he had raised the issue during Prime Ministers Question Time in the House of Commons.
