The Liberal Democrats have re-selected 2005 General Election candidate Farid Ahmed as their Parliamentary Spokesman for Walthamstow.

As an acknowledgement of the fifth anniversary of the allied invasion of Iraq on the 20th March 2003, the Liberal Democrat Group on Waltham Forest Council asked the Mayor to read a short announcement commemorating the anniversary and follow this with a minute's silence in honour of those who have lost their lives during the conflict. Cllr Bob Wheatley of William Morris ward also had a short piece published in the local Waltham Forest Guardian on this issue.
