Proposals to destroy the iconic Walthamstow dog track and replace it with housing continue to face the widespread disapproval of many local residents and campaigners.

Local Lib Dem campaigner Farid Ahmed has expressed his continued support for the "Save our Stow Campaign" . The campaign is aiming to delay the approval of the current development and find a bidder to re-invigorate the area by reopening the racing venue, an aim that the he and councillor John Macklin have been working towards.

Farid Ahmed commented, "I had hoped that a suitable bid from those interested in opening this site for dog racing could be bought forward and I want these proposals delayed."

The issue of the dwindling availability of local services in Walthamstow is becoming more and more of a concern to Farid Ahmed who argues, "we should provide leisure facilities within our borough, it is not sustainable for residents to have to leave Walthamstow because we no longer have the facilities."
