Farid came to Walthamstow as a young boy; going to school at Woodside Primary School, Chapel End Juniors and Senior School, then Sir George Monoux School (now Monoux College), where he is now a Governor.  He then went to King's College London, where he gained a degree in Chemistry, and later whilst in full time employment Farid completed his MBA.

In his professional career, Farid has worked as a corporate treasurer for companies such as Granada and Carlton before working in the biotechnology and telecommunications banking sectors. Farid now works with start-up companies in the software development, education, biotechnology and real estate sectors; mentoring them on business development and financial issues.

Outside his professional career, Farid has helped several small local business start up.  He's volunteered with local youth groups as an activities coordinator; helped a local children's activities play group teaching painting with water colours; volunteered with a local charity for the elderly organising social events, and helped establish an arts and crafts studio.

Farid has been an active member of Walthamstow Liberal Democrats since 1982.  Since 2004, he has worked practically full time with the local party helping to campaign on a range of local issues including stopping post office closures, saving Whipps Cross hospital, getting more police on the beat, fighting the closure of local libraries, as well as leading the campaign to "clean-up" Walthamstow.

In his spare time, Farid enjoys spending time with his family & friends, as well as the odd cricket game or football match.
